Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

Land in Kathmandu, the frenetic capital of Nepal. You will be welcomed by Inspiring Trek Pvt. Ltd. and transported to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest or explore the city independently. Kathmandu is blessed with many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and if you arrive early, you can see the highlights of Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinah, and Boudhanath.

Tips:

• Drink water after your flight.
• Even though the remaining places in the area are fairly cheap, break open a few local currency (Nepali Rupees) for small expenses.
• Cross check your trekking permits and gear with trekking company.

Drive from Kathmandu to Kande (approx 8 hours by private vehicle) after breakfast. Once you arrive, the hike to Forest Camp starts. Every day will be one long pleasant walk through either a forest of elevated lush vegetation. You can enjoy splendid views of the surrounding hills and valleys along the way. Tea house accommodation at Forest Camp (2500m)

Tips:

• A pair of comfortable trekking shoes would be the best for this journey.
• Acclimatize: take regular breaks.
• Stash your valuables in a small daypack.

The day starts with a full breakfast in Forest Camp, followed by an easy climb through flourishing rhododendron forests. As you ascend, you will see the landscape change. The trail gradually clears to wide clearance wilderness views of Annapurna south, Machapuchare (Fish Tail), and Hiunchuli as you hike farther in. From the muddy lower trail, the climb to Low Camp is short but a tremendous shift in geology. Providing ever more stunning views farther up. At Low Camp, you will check into a local teahouse for the night. The altitude here is around 3,150 meters, so it’s nice to acclimate.

We spend the evening unwinding with a hot meal and soaking in the peace of the surrounding mountains. Low Camp's night sky is its special – the stars that you see will be incomparable with those seen at lower heights.

Tips:

• Take it easy so that your body can adjust to the higher altitude.
• Stay hydrated with water to prevent altitude issues.
• Have your camera ready for views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare.

Today’s hike takes you deeper into the mountains, as you climb from Low Camp to High Camp, which is at around 3,600 meters. You ascend through a forest of oak and rhododendron trees, the slopes growingsteeper. The views of the Annapurna range become broader the higher you ascend. From High Camp, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks including Mardi Himal, Machapuchare and Annapurna South.

Today’s walking is just a little tougher — altitude starts taking its toll. It’s important to schedule regular breaks to acclimatize to the altitude. After arriving at High Camp, you will check into a teahouse for the night. The evening can be enjoyed in the incredible views if the weather is kind.

Tips:

• Pack plenty of snacks for the ascent; the trail is fairly strenuous.
• Make sure your equipment is appropriate for the altitude.
• Get lots of air (literally) as you climb!

This will be the highlight of your trek. You will rise early enough to see the first light of day, which often lights up the surrounding mountains with beautiful colors. Following breakfast, the trek towards Mardi Himal Base Camp 4,500m begins. The hike section is quite strenuous because of the altitude and the slope of the trail, but once you get to the base camp, you will be rewarded. The views from the Mardi Himal Base Camp are absolutely stunning — snow capped peaks surround the landscape and Machapuchare is right in front of you.

You return to High Camp, where you will spend the night after some time at Base Camp soaking up the views and tranquility. Flying down is less technically demanding but you still need to concentrate. Back at High Camp, rest, refuel with a well-deserved meal and contemplate the breathtaking views you just witnessed!

• Get out early to make the most of the clear morning skies.
• Don't forget water and snacks for the climb to Base Camp
• Make sure your camera is on and ready to snap some views at Mardi Himal Base Camp.

With Mardi Himal Base Camp history, it’s time to head back down. You will walk from High Camp down to Siding Village at a lower altitude and different landscape. And while the trek down is easier, it’s still critical to take your time and watch your footing — especially as you descend through rocky sections and dense forest.

Along the way to Siding Village, you will be surrounded by beautiful terraced fields and small villages, you can see the daily life of local residents here. Siding Village is a place where you can feel the tranquility and get to know the hospitality of the local people. It’s a good place to sit after multiple days of hiking.

Tips:

• Weiring yourself on the way down to avoid hurt knees.
• Spend some time talking to locals in Siding Village to discover more about the way of life here.
• Get adequate hydration, the descent can be dehydrating.

After breakfast at Siding Village, you will trek towards Lumre. Most of the trail is descending and you’ll navigate through more lovely villages, terraced fields, and stunning scenery. Once you arrive at Lumre, a private vehicle will transfer you back to Pokhara. It is close to 2 to 3 hours drive via scenic countryside.

You check into your hotel when you get to Pokhara and are free to relax or explore the rest of that day. As much of Pokhara is lake-facing, you can take a boat ride on Phewa Lake or head to community café and shops. This part of evening is perfect for relaxation with memories of your fantastic journey.

Tips:

• After the long drive, you get stiff, so stretch your legs!
• For a calm finish to your trek, walk around the Lakeside area of Pokhara.
• In pokhara drink water and breath the fresh air of the mountain.

You will then return from Pokhara to Kathmandu either via an impressive drive or a short domestic flight after leisurely breakfast. The drive is roughly 6-7 hours while the flight is approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for shopping, sightseeing or visiting the city’s historic temples and markets. In the evening farewell dinner with your fellow trekkers and trek guide, reminiscing on your unforgettable trek journey to Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Tips:

• Get ready for a long trip if you are doing the drive but there will be beautiful sights on the way.
• If you have time explore some of the temples or markets in Kathmandu.
• So make sure you have your flight details close by, just in case.

Final Day: Transmission to Tribhuvan International Airport (Bhairawaha), according to your flight schedule. If your flight departs in the evening, you may have some time to explore Kathmandu or relax at your hotel. This is the last day of your Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek.
