Helambu Trek – 7 Days

Your representative will welcome you in Kathmandu and will take you to your hotel. You will have time to explore the bustling streets of Thamel, where you can browse for trekking gear or enjoy some authentic Nepali food. In the evening, we have a trek briefing session. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Tips:

• If you plan to pay for small expenses, you should carry the local currency (Nepali Rupees).
• Drink more water to adapt to the higher altitude.
• Be sure your gear and permits are well in hand before hitting the trail.

We drive a little (2:45-3hours drive) to Sundarijal after breakfast. The hike begins with a brief entrance into the Shivapuri National Park, where you will see rivers and verdant jungles. As you continue to climb, you will hike up through small villages until you reach Chisapani, a very beautiful village with unbeatable views of the Himalayas. Stay overnight at a tea house.

Tips:

• Do the trek in the morning and also avoid afternoon heat.
• Wear comfy trekking shoes with good grip.
• Pack snacks and water, as this is a continuous ascent.

Today’s trek starts with a descent through lovely rhododendron forests and an ascent up to Pathi Bhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang. The trail passes through terraced fields, small villages and pine forests. We will also experience the traditional Nepali farming culture and the simplicity of rural life along the way. Following numerous twists and turns, we finally arrive at Kutumsang, a picturesque village with breathtaking mountain views. Overnight in a tea house.

Tips:

• Rest frequently on the way up to save energy.
• Talk to locals and learn about their culture and way of life.
• Be prepared to capture stunning sights of the Langtang range.

This is one of the hardest days of the trek, since we are climbing to a high altitude. The trail climbs through dense forests of rhododendron, oak and pine trees. As we hike further up, the scenery shifts and we are greeted with spectacular views of the snow-covered mountain tops. After passing through Magen Goth you reach Tharepati, the highest point of the trek. Tharepati for the stunning views of the Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Jugal Himal ranges. Overnight in a tea house.

Tips:

• Walk slowly to prevent altitude sickness.
•   Hydration matters, a lot: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
•   Dress warmly, as you will feel cold at the higher altitude.

Today’s hike includes a steep descent through rhododendron and pine forests. We cross the suspension bridge over the Melamchi River and visit the beautiful Sherpa village of Melamchi Gaon. At this point, we embark up a gentle climb to Tarkeghyang, an infrequent Buddhist town that boasts of some of the oldest monasteries. It is one of the biggest villages in the Helambu area and a beautiful place to experience local culture and traditions. Overnight in a tea house.

Tips:

• Be alert while going downhill on rocky trails.
• Explore the local monasteries to the Buddhist heritage.
•   Sample traditional Sherpa Cuisine for the local experience.

Today’s hike is more gentle than the previous ones, as we walk along flats and gradual ascents. The trail meanders through rich forests, boujesh streams, and dispersed settlements. Sermathang is also a major village in the Helambu Region with rich Sherpa culture and scenic Himalayan viewpoints. On a clear day, we can see Mount Everest far away. Explore the village meet the kindly locals visit monasteries. Overnight in a tea house.

Tips:

• Take it easy and appreciate the peaceful surroundings.
• Snap pictures of the stunning sceneries.

in Melamchi Bazaar, and there we part ways with the Helambu region. Now we drive back to Kathmandu, through scenic roads. Arrive transfer to your hotel and take rest and thinks about how the amazing trekking experience. Tonight we will holding a farewell dinner to mark the end of our trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.
