Tamang Heritage Trek – 8 Days

International Fight to Kathmandu and pick up transfer at the airport. You are taken to your hotel, where you can relax or take a brief tour of the city. You will meet your guide and fellow trekkers at a welcome dinner for your evening.

Tips:

• Have your passport and travel documents on hand
• So stay hydrated and drink more water.
• Get some well-earned rest for the walk to come.

After breakfast, we will drive towards Syabrubesi (Trek Starting Point). Drive along terraced fields, villages and surrounding hills. Then, we’ll get some rest in Syabrubesi for the night and prepare for the trek.

Tips:

• Depending on the route, temperatures can fluctuate, so dress in layers for the drive.
• Get some snacks for the trip.
• Enjoy the views as you go; it’s quite incredible at the top, but pushing towards it is as beautiful as the destination!

After breakfast, we begin hiking from Syabrubesi, where we will pass by small settlements and terraced fields. It gradually ascends to Gatlang, a traditional Tamang settlement that tastes beautiful views of the surrounding scenery. Glimpse of Ganesh Himal & Langtang Mountain range during our hiker through rhododendron and bamboo forests. We will stop for a visit at an ancient Buddhist monastery in Gatlang. Local life will also be seen as we walk pass Tamang houses and fields. A little onward to Gatlang we will check into our guesthouse for the night.

Tips:

• Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day so that you can stay active.
• Be careful walking on uneven ground.
• Be aware of the local customs and traditions when you visit monasteries.

Today’s hike follows a lovely forested trail to the natural hot spring village of Tatopani, a place famous for its healing properties. We will walk through several landscapes, and finally the village of Chilime where we can mingle with people and understand their simple lifestyle. The route meanders parallel to the Chilime river with views of waterfalls and greenery. It's time for some relaxation after a long day of trekking for the day, at Tatopani: hot spring bath.

Tips:

• Remember to bring a swimsuit if you’re going to use the hot springs!
• Use sunscreen so that you don’t get burned.
• Tapotani tour and Relax.

After a refreshing hot spring morning, we start our hike to Thuman, with its beautiful views of Langtang range and traditional Tamang lifestyle. The path ascends consistently, traversing thickly wooded sections and tiny agricultural terraces. Thuman is known for its Buddhist monasteries, and on arrival, we will explore one of those sacred sites to learn about local Tamang spiritual practices. Another evening is spent wandering around the village, speaking with villagers and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere.

Tips:

• The middle stage has a moderate incline, take your time on the way up.
• Make sure to take a camera, there are some beautiful views of the Langtang range.
• Be mindful of local customs, especially when in places of worship.

We head onwards to Timure, a village just short of the Tibetan border. The trail itself is not particularly challenging, and the occasional mountain and valley views from the trail would suffice as your motivation to keep going. We will hike through rural villages and fields, take notice of the lifestyle of the Tamang folk culture. Timure is famous for its old fort and the ancient Rasuwagadi, which we're going to visit. It has great historical relevance as it was a trading post between Nepal and Tibet. After visiting the fort we will chill in the peaceful village.

Tips:

• Pack plenty of water and snack for the hike.
• The altitude is not to be taken lightly, though; it’s a gradual ascent.
• Spare some time for visiting Rasuwagadi fort and nearby area.

On the last day of our trek, we retrace our steps through beautiful woods and villages to head back to Syabrubesi. On this day we reflect on the happenings that took place in the past week, travelling back to where the hike started. Day 7: Drive back to Syabrubesi,Manang to relax and spend the night.

Tips:

• Revel on your final day of trekking.
• Or wear comfy clothes for the walk back.
• Allow muscles to recuperate with stretches after the trek.

We start our drive back to Kathmandu after breakfast, enjoying the rolling hills and valleys en route. The journey takes around 7-8 hours, so it’s a good opportunity to chill and reflect on your adventure. After landing in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. However, you have the evening free to indulge in the art of the city, do any last-minute shopping, or a farewell dinner.

• Secure your items in place through the drive.
• Get out and stretch your legs during breaks so you don’t stay stiff from the long drive.
• Spend the evening soaking up the buzz of city life in Kathmandu.
