Manaslu Circuit Trek – 14 Days

Meeting upon arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. After checking in, relax or meander through the bustling streets of Thamel. In the afternoon, we’ll convene for a briefing session where we finalize details for your trek, including necessary permits and paperwork.

You will pick-up from your hotel in the morning to drive Soti Khola from Kathmandu: a journey of approximately 8 hours. Terraced fields, rivers, and small villages accompany the scenic drive. Once you’re at Soti Khola, you’ll catch a taste of rural life before being assigned to your lodgings.

We start the trek from Soti Khola in the direction of Machha Khola today. It takes about 6–7 hours to reach. We’ll trek along the Budhi Gandaki River, passing over a series of suspension bridges and through small villages. The trail is moderate, with a mix ups and downs through forests, terraced fields and rocky paths. Along the way, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Machha Khola is just a small village where we’ll spend the night in a local tea house.

From Machha Khola, we trek towards Jagat, which takes around 6-7 hours. The trail steadily ascends, through villages such as Khorlabesi and Tatopani, where we can take short breaks. The verdant forests through which we traverse, joined by the rhythmic voice of the river that we will not abandoned throughout. Jagat is a lovely, remote and picturesque village, amidst a valley, a quiet, peaceful atmosphere.

Long story short, today we are headed to the village of Deng. We spend around 6-7 hours of walking through forests, terraced fields and steep pathways. The trail gets tougher here, too, climbing steeply—but we're rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. We will pass through multiple traditional villages and cross multiple suspension bridges. Deng is a nice little Sherpa village we will stay overnight in a local teahouse.

Today we are trekking from Deng to Namrung, a 6-7 hour hike. The trail ascends through forests of pine and rhododendron, and we’ll see our first clear views of the towering peaks of the Manaslu Range. When we pass through the villages of Prok and Lihi, we will start seeing more Buddhist culture with chortens and prayer wheels. Namrung is another beautiful village from where we will see mountains around.

Today we walk from Namrung to Samagaon, that takes about 6-7 hours. The route also becomes more challenging and steep when we arrive near Samagaon where, in alpine meadows and old-growth forests, we begin our journey to the next hill. As we approach Samagaon, the scenery widens to reveal stunning views of Mount Manaslu. Its a Tibetan-style village with a serene ambiance and a great opportunity to walk around the area and visit the local monasteries.

We spend the day in Samagaon for acclimatization to the upper altitude. We will be spending this day to avoid altitude sickness and to acclimatize more to the next segment of our trek. You may explore the village, visit the monastery, or trek a short distance to viewpoints around the village, such as the Pungyen Gompa which superb view of Manaslu Glacier.

It’s a 4-to-5-hour trek today from Samagaon to Samdo. The trail slowly climbs through a series of alpine meadows and rocky fields. Samdo is a remote Tibetan town near the Tibet Border. This stop is well worth the effort for the spectacular views of Mount Manaslu and the surrounding peaks. This is the last major village prior to Larkya Pass, known as Samdo.

After Samdo, we trek towards Dharmasala, a 4-5 hour hike. Today the jeep translates us pass this rocky and desert trail that we tap gradually for the Larkya Base Camp. Dharmasala pose a small settlement used as a rest stop by trekkers before crossing Larkya Pass. The region is remote, but offers spectacular mountain views, including that of Manaslu.

The hardest and most rewarding day of the trek. Day 12: Cross Larkya La (5,160 m) and trek to Bhimtang This is a tough day and we will leave very early and gain altitude steeply to the Larkya Pass, the Manaslu Circuit's highest point. The pass provides stunning views of the peaks around. Today we cross the pass and descend to Bimtang, where we will spend the night. That whole trek today takes around 8-9 hours.

Today’s trek is much easier after a grueling day yesterday. We make our way down from Bimtang to Tilije, taking roughly 6-7 hours. The path passes through farmland, small villages and forests. We visit these villages on level with lower Manaslu’s rural life. Tilije is a quiet village where we will spend the night in a local teahouse.

Today we get back to Kathmandu from Tilije. The journey itself takes around 8-10 hours passing through picturesque countryside and scenic views of the mountains. So we will be transferred to your hotel after delivering from the airport in Kathmandu, where you can have refreshments after successfully completing your trek.

If you fly in October you'll have some free time in Kathmandu to visit shops and buy souvenirs or have a coffee before your departure, depending on your schedule. You will be transferred to the airport with our team for your international flight home.
